Not too long ago I read where Broadcast Journalist Renee Poussaint of Washington DC passed away on March 9th, 2022 at age 77. She was humble, strong, and very understanding. At the time when we cut these promos for the neediest kid's promotion I really had no idea who she was. The radio station Q107 where I worked and the TV station (WJLA) where she worked were both owned and operated by ABC. We would do joint promotions quite often.
On the day of the shoot, I was recovering from sleep depravation caused by a personal appearance at a DC Nightclub until 3 in the morning followed by a four hour radio show from 6 to 10 am. No nap and and then I had to be at safeway supermarket at 10:30 for a promo taping with Renee Poussaint. I was exhausted and just wanted to get some sleep before my 1pm personal appearance at a tire store. Arghh. And in these outtakes here I am (unbeknownst to me) with the most revered TV journalist in the Nation's Capitol.
Renee had the patience of Jobe. She was great to work with.
She will be missed!
